Music to tame the wild beast

I was just pondering the last year in entertainment and it dawned on me that I have had the privilege to see quite a few top notch musical acts in and around the LA area!

We went to see the Cure at the Shrine Auditorium, great show! That is until Sammy Hagar recognized my roommate and decided that since our seats were better than his, he would include himself in our group in the loge seats and then proceeded to be an obnoxious bore for the last half of the concert. (but at least we got a few free drinks out of the deal)

R.E.M. at the Hollywood Bowl was a little bit of a let down - they change up their set list for every show and we kind of got the short end of the stick it seemed like, but I love them just the same.

The Steve Miller Band played at the OC Fair this year - a blast from the past, for sure, and viewing them through a haze of pot smoke made the experience that much better.

Fleetwood Mac put on an amazing show at the Staples Center - we were literally in the nosebleed seats but the tickets were free so I am not complaining in the least.

Back to the Hollywood Bowl for Depeche Mode - it is hard to say which was the better show between DM and Fleetwood Mac, but I have to say the Depeche still puts on a truly spectacular show!

Went down to San Diego and saw No Doubt with some really cheap tickets but the "seats" blew - on the grass and about a mile from the stage, so that was a little disappointing, but they still sounded great.

Finally, we got to see the beautiful and talented Kylie Minogue at the Hollywood Bowl under a full moon recently. She is definitely Austalia's Madonna and put on a really colorful show!

All in all, a very entertaining year!
